I have an Elna 2600. She's a real workhorse. Sewing through anything I ask of her. The Elna 2600 is the current entry level Elna, and is a manual, then it goes 2800, and then up to the 3200's you were talking about.

The Elna has a unique feature that it has the bobbin spool pin postitioned exactly right to let you use the big spools. I don't know if they are all this way but certainly the 2600 and the 2800 are this way. They have the same body style. The 2600 has 18 different stitches. I have used them all. It also has a variable size, so you can change the stitch lengths and widths. I once heard that this function is like have more stitches, but it might have been a sales thing, I don't know.

I love to sew on my Elna. I have machine quilted a handful of quilts on it. Currently I am working on a King of all things. She just sews right on. The rotary hook assembly (the thing your bobbin sits in) is very well made and is easily removed for cleaning and de-linting.

The one thing I would change about is for it to have a light switch. I leave my light bulb out most of the time because it gets pretty hot working by it. It's a nice little machine. It doesn't have all the toys and do-dads but it sews, it sews like a dream, demanding very little.

If I am piecing I can set the fabric on the sewing line and let it run. It sews beautifully straight with little to no help guiding the fabric from me.

I did end up wanting bells and whistles and bought a Brother 2001ULT, but the thought of selling my Little Elna leaves me feeling blind and empty. I just love her. She is never far from my projects and usually at the heart of all of them.

I hope that helps you. I'd be happy to answer any more questions you might have... Oh why I went with a Brother the second time. Money partly, to buy an Elna that does all that my Brother does would have set me back thousands, and DH really wanted me to have the option to do Disney embroidery.
