Until I got my Featherweight (which I LOVE for piecing), I did everything on my Elna 6005 Heirloom Edition. I bought it used several years ago. I have a 'different' reason for selecting this one. My friend in Washington who got me going on quilting had the same model. Since she was teaching me long-distance (I'm in CA), I figured if I got the same machine, she could give me pointers on it too. I've been really happy with it. It has lots of different stitches - most of which I've never used, but like knowing they are there. It doesn't have a lot of bells/whistles, but I wouldn't know how to use them anyway. I don't need to do machine embroidery, so don't mind that is doesn't have that feature. The drop-in bobbin is easy and it's a cinch to take out the housing of it to suck up the fuzzies. It was pretty easy to get started on it, and I haven't had a speck of trouble with it. One of my favorite parts is the needle-up/needle-down feature. I wouldn't buy ANY machine without that.
