If it would really bother you to set this quilt aside for a while then go ahead and machine quilt it. I enjoy hand quilting, it's therapuetic for me. You could always start your next quilt project and if you don't want to get back to hand quilting this one you could machine quilt it after all. I think hand and machine quilting are both beautiful.
