I'm late in responding, but I think you should at least keep them in the family.

I crocheted an afghan for my Grandfather when he was in a nursing home. I asked to have it returned upon his passing, but never got it. I'm sure another senior appreciated having it, so I am not harboring bad feelings, but I would have liked to have kept it in the family.
