Marmie, I am so sorry about the loss of your Mother. Be gentle with yourself. You don't have to make a decision now give yourself time. You can safely store them away in the mean time.
After my Dad passed whenever I opened the closet where I had his clothes (when looking for something else) I'd see his clothes and stand there crying. My husband was kind enough to move the clothes for me to another closet. Some clothes we did donate to charity because I know Dad would have wanted that. But I kept his shirts in hopes of making a quilt from them. Now when I look at his shirts it bring me comfort and I know I'll be able to make a quilt from his shirts.
