I have some fabrics, but I don't have a huge stockpile of them. I buy only what I need unless I find a fabric that I really, really like and can't leave the store without it or know I'll use it (Like black solids I'll buy a lot of and I'm a bit of a sucker for blacks and certain Oriental prints). When I plan out a project I plan out the fabrics I want to use and just buy those. I don't usually buy a fabric thinking I'll figure out what to do with it later. Not that there's anything wrong with that because it does work for other quilters.
