Along the side where the thread touches the machine before you thead through the guides and than into the needle, gets little grooves worn into the paint. Run your finger along there and see if you feel any. I use Sally Hanson hard as nail and fill them in every so often.. I have also heard about some people putting a fishing pole tip there.
