I wash all my quilts before gifting.
Usually I write: "This quilt is all cotton and can be washed in a regular washer with warm (not hot) water, regular detergent, spun dry, and damp dried in your dryer. I usually drape mine over the back of the sofa, or some other place, to finish drying. It is made with love and meant to be used and loved; if it needs repair, call me; enjoy!"
