I started planning these in November and got into the sewing part about Thanksgiving. It has taken me about 2 months to sew them. They are for my son's unit. I have all that I need to cover his whole unit now so I do not need any.
Unless you know of someone in the service that is willing to receive them and hand them out to their unit I don't know how else to send them. I have asked the captain's wife about others wanting to send quilts but she told me that we can't give out names of people in the service without first asking them.
Since I really don't know any one other then my son, I can't help with finding people to send them to. I think if you could locate someone in your own community that has a family member in the service then that would be the best way to try and get a person to send some to.
My son's unit is all males but don't forget the ladies out there serving our nation as well. They work just as hard and get just as cold. Oh I just thought of another way you might find someone. If you have a locale newspaper, maybe you could run a small add saying that you quilt for soldiers and are looking to find someone to send them to. Might work?
