This was the hardest part for me too, when I started quilting, and that was less than 5 years ago. I read Color from the Heart by Gai Perry and did some of the exercises in the book. (Okay, I admit I only did one exercise, but I read the others and did them in my head, LOL)

Then I just practiced, and looked at other quilts, and practiced some more, and now people tell me I am good at putting fabrics together. Me! I thought I had no color sense at all. Now I love putting fabrics together. This is a skill that can be learned, and if I could do it then anyone can.

Also, I find that scrap quilts are the easiest - IF you let them be scrappy. Just put the fabrics together without looking at the color, paying attention only to lights and darks, and it WILL work out.
