Is each "block" just a cut piece of fabric??
  It will be assembled today, but quilting is a whole other story. I think I have about 5 or 6 tops in line to be quilted. You would think with my own longarm, that I would have ALL my tops finished ASAP. But I have some customer quilts that need to be finished by Christmas. Luckily I'm not booked for months... Maybe it's the economy or that I'm new or that I like doing custom quilting and everyone in the area thinks I'm too pricey (not true!)

Anyway, you question. Each block is a cut piece reassembled. I've attached a graphic of the layout I did. The repeat on this border was 8 7/8", so after cutting out all the borders, I cut them into exact 8 7/8" squares, then cut as shown in the diagram below, then assembled.
The book is really good. It give different layouts based on your border fabric. I had a two border repeat fabric, meaning a large border then small, then repeat.
Hope this helps!
