I put aluminum foil on the board 1st to keep moisture from warping the board then wrapped the batting to the back and stapled it. Then I wrapped the fabric and stapled it.
That's the beauty of this particular board. The particle board is a barrier to the moister. The rough side holds the batting in place. After the canvas is put on you can make a "pillow case" for it that can be taken off and washed or replaced.
