I’m working on my second quilt. It’s a baby quilt for my niece’s baby girl who is due toward the end of February. My first quilt was a rag quilt and I’ve pieced a few individual blocks, but this is the first time I’ve tried to piece “identical” blocks for a larger project. I’m really happy with how the piecing worked out—I can tell my seams are getting more even—and I’m ok with the fabric choices, but if I were to do it again I’d replace the stripes with a green-on-green leafy-viney print. (Live and learn!) Now I’m trying to decide on the layout. I’m leaning toward layout #2 or a controlled “random” layout like #3. I have 30 eight inch blocks so I may use just 16 or 20 of them in the quilt and use the rest for some nursery coordinates… Thanks for looking!
