i may have to return to "lurk" mode for my opinion--but i would buy a fat quarter set, or yardage in a heartbeat if i saw this. of course, i have two studio artists in the family, and live in a huge arts center--but if this cutting edge (pun fully intended) stuff hit the streets at "crafty planet", a local young person oriented store, it would be gone in a day.
I'm with you - what a riot! The Knitmare on Elm Street looks like a kid from a Scooby Doo cartoon wandered into one of those Old Navy commercials with the mannequins. Hilarious!
This sort of fabric appeals to a specific sense of humor, which I have. Am I planning to buy? Nah - I can't think where I'd use it, honestly. But I laughed out loud looking at it and if I can dream up a reason I won't hesitate to buy.

Yeah. Giant poinsettias make me cringe, but I've seen the artists here turn some downright awful fabrics into something beautiful. To each her own - including us. :)
