After my Dad passed whenever I opened the closet where I had his clothes (when looking for something else) I'd see his clothes and stand there crying. My husband was kind enough to move the clothes for me to another closet. Some clothes we did donate to charity because I know Dad would have wanted that. But I kept his shirts in hopes of making a quilt from them. Now when I look at his shirts it bring me comfort and I know I'll be able to make a quilt from his shirts.
I had some of my Grandmother's clothes sent to me when she passed in 1998. Lately I've been thinking I'm ready to work on them. I've decided instead of one lap quilt I'd make a few quilted removable pillow covers that could be used as wall hangings if desired, since I'm sharing two of them with my cousins. I'm glad I asked for her items even though it was hard to receive them initially. There's a time and place for everything it seems.
