Why do you need to make this with a Y seam?? sew piece into 2 pieces press seam open, then add on piece to each double section, then press open once again now you have two 3 piece sections now put them 2 section face to face matching the seam lines on both pieces. that's the way I would have done it - did you make 2 (3 piece) sections then sew together as one?
Yes that's what I did. I don't do y seams. I'm gonna rip it apart and try it again.
