Many years ago, I took an applique class when I thought I liked hand work. And a few leaves later, I have 3 leaves sewn on for a flower or something and that's it. I'm working on a UFO (not that one, lol) where I want to applique the center block with my boss' son's name (Ian. Love short names). I had everything else together and just put off the applique for 6 years. Well, I'm working through my UFOs and decided to try the appliquing. Though I still prefer piecing, it's really not that bad to applique. Takes more focus, patience, and accuracy, but isn't as bad as I remembered it.

Just wanted to share! :D
