That's wonderful, and you know she will treasure that quilt always!

I teach beginning sewing I and II in a continuation high school (if you aren't familiar with this type of school, it's for kids who are off track to graduate. They can either get back on track with us and go back to their home school, or stay with us and graduate).

Two of my girls are pregnant and I have given them projects to make for their babies. So far we have completed/working on rag quilts (even one of the boys made one for his room!), burp cloths, and bibs. They are working with cottons, flannels, and terrycloth and utilizing the sergers and embroidery machines (as well as the sewing machines).

They both have a rough road ahead, but working on these projects, and the positive comments they are getting from friends and family (my goodness, YOU made that, how wonderful) hopefully will give them added confidence.
