Be careful if the boxes are cardboard. Cardboard contains acid that can eventually discolor and eat through fabric. Also, dyes in the cardboard can "dry crock" onto fabric that rubs against it. Coating the inside of the box with a clear polymer or lining it with muslin would solve the acid problem. Shorter term storage wouldn't be a problem, but storing fabric for years in a cardboard box could be.
