I haven't starched at all yet, but I might start.
I do however ALWAYS pre-wash as soon as I get the fabric home(twice for reds!). I pre-wash both for color bleed and because I know what chemicals are used in the manufacturing process and I really don't want to breath/touch those any more than I have to - especially when you think about how much fabric is hanging around in a small area. I also pre-wash clothing that I buy.
