i didn't even think about spray basting..something i never do, so didn't come to mind, but may be a great way to use the minky. and as for the silky binding...if you are going to sew it together pillowcase style you could lay top down flat, right side up...place your silky binding around the top, raw edges even, fold facing toward the center of the quilt. then put the back down right side down (so the right sides are facing each other with the binding inbetween) stitch around leaving a space large enough to turn. when you turn it the silky binding will be outside, around the quilt like a silky ribbon. when you lay it out you can gather/ruffle it or pleat it, or keep it straight. . . lots of pins and still have to sew slowly along, but comes out pretty good.
