we have the 'hello kitty' one..and, it is 'okay'...great for the youngest to learn on for the speed is much slower. I did loan it out to a friend for her to make a baby quilt and she was just fine w/it too. My first real sewing machine that worked like a dream is a Janome 3200 for about $300 from Hancock fabrics. I have dragged that thing everywhere and loaned it out too. Love it and it fits nicely in my RV too:))It came w/several feet and I added an open toe too.
