Perhaps if you made matching twin sized quilts, with heavier batting for you, then the bed would match & you could be warmer. We lived in Europe for a while & they often make their beds with 2 duvets, so each sleeper has their own. Also, try layering w/ 2 top sheets - that way you could put your blanket & even the extra for your side in between them. They stay straighter (for easier bedmaking) & are warmer than just one top sheet, as it traps the blanket's heat better. I agree w/ another writer that you wouldn't like a quilt that was thicker on one side.
