my kids used to put the clean clothes back in the laundry because they did not put them away when clean. So yes I sniff everything, that way if it smell clean it got folded and sent back upstairs to their room, I save lots of time and money that way!
I quit doing my kids laundry for exactly that reason! Now they wash their own. I sniff nothing. I no longer stick my hands in pockets wondering what I'll pull out. It was a liberating moment for me.
