I would either make up templates for the size strips you want that start at one end with 1/2" and end at the other with 1" or whatever the dimensions you need are and use the template to cut them individually. I use regular printer paper to make templates. Or I would have the strips cut, lets say 2 1/2" wide and however long and just sew them together starting with 1/4" seam on one end and ending up with a larger seam on the other end so you get that wonky look. Don't know if I have made myself clear. I do regular log cabin by hand, have never done the wonky, to fussy by hand for me.
