Thanks so much for the suggestions... I never even thought of oiling it before starting to sew on it... I'm going to do that right away.

I see the Nancy Johnson-Srebro book is on Amazon so I've got that in my cart and will definitely buy it. Meanwhile, does your book suggest ways to get the musty smell out of the case?
