I belong to a church quilting group and we make baby quilts as well as lap size quilts for hospice and nursing homes, etc.
I sew the tops together at home, after the squares are put into a pattern of some sort. We each work on things at home and then all work together as a group to put the quilts together.
Our church donates the money for purchasing fabric and batting. It's such a worthwhile project and allows all of us to contribute even if finances would prohibit individuals to purchase the fabrics & batting.
