Need a reading shawl pattern because I could make MORE items and they're useful while in wheel chairs, or cold weather!

Welcome from the central valley of CA.
And how nice of you to think of our Wounded Warriors. They've given so much for us, and rarely ever get thanked.
Don't forget to make them long enough so they protect the back of the legs. As an over 28 year volunteer in our local hospital, that is one gripe I heard over and over when I transported patients from one floor to another. One older nurse started me into putting a blanket in the wheel chair before the patient was put in it, we could cover him/her up warmly, (and chemo patients wanted their heads covered in public).
Even now when sitting back in my Lazy Boy, I have my long lap robe wrapped under my legs because of stray drafts. (I have one smart cat who knows one door that doesn't close completely..so he opens it frequently to see what might be new in there.)
