Most products are petroleum based while real soap is often made from olive oil, coconut oil or other real oils. The higher the glycrine the more desirable.

That is why many things are called beauty bar etc. they can not use the word soap. The petroleum based products dry your skin.

It is not that hard to make soap. Melt and pour is super easy and even ones made with lye are not that hard.

But for good soap the ingredients are expensive.

You can find all information online or buy some basic books. Melt and pour is sold by whole Sale supplies plus. I can't remember where I ordered my buckets of coconut and other oils from. Oilve oil was from Cosco. For lye we used a drain cleaner that is pure lye. Been awhile since I made lye soap but to me it is the best.
