It's not the same type of glove that you use to FMQ. But, I'm not sure why you can't use the F&P glove for FMQ if it weren't' so bulky. My quilting gloves fit much better than my Klutz glove.
FMQ gloves also have to really grip. I'm not sure I could even do it without them.
Yes. I have arthritis and really don't think I could quilt without those gloves. I don't think those F&P gloves completely reflect cuts but they do deter them. They offer a minimum degree of protection to give you time to move away from the blade.
