I recently finished Love Letters of the Civil War Quilt Top and am now ready to quilt it. I have decided to hand quilt it as I am trying to be as true to the Civil War era as possible. I only used reproduction fabric and hopefully remained true to form. I was wondering if anyone out there knew how women during that time stitched their quilts together. I want a "homey arts and crafts"look about it. Have it be more of a ulitarian style. A friend also suggested I do some applique around my border but wasn't sure if that was done then. Any ideas welcomed!
