I have one. It's one of my favorite machines (although that's a pretty long list). I am deeply and madly in love with the IDT. Mine makes a "growly" sound, not off-putting at all, in fact I kind of like it. It sounds strong. I had some issues with the bobbin in the beginning, but once I learned to make sure it always clicked into place firmly, no more problems.
