I think that if we were asked for our opinions, and I saw a glaring one (to me) that no one else has commented on, I would PM her/him and mention it diplomatically as possible. I'm sure in such a situation she/he would like to know. Especially if that quilt was on its way to a show.
Otherwise, I would remark on the lovely colors and shut up about any perceived flaws.
