I bend all needles when I hand sew - even hemming a dress. It has something to do with the chemical makeup of my skin and the way I hold the needle. I bend rings and wear through them quickly too. But I won't give up my rings or my sewing. I have the rings built up every 10 years or so, and I buy new needles when I run low.
