XDH and I went to KI Sawyer in early 1960=61, snow twice the height of the car, 15 below. We were even there before the air planes were delivered. Lived there for months before I discovered that our nice, flat back yard was not in fact flat but steep hill side covered flat with snow. I let my two babies play on that back porch not knowing they could have fallen in soft snow 6 feet deep. And I had to put them in a box on a wagon, covered them with warm quilts to go to the grocery store.
I like California. 20 or so miles from Marquette was enough for me.

I'd suggest that all of you who drive in this stuff take emergency supplies with you. IN THE BACK SEAT!! That's so if you slide off the road you can reach it easily. Sleeping bag, charged cell phone, giant chocolate bar, kitty litter for back tire traction. And any other things you can think of in that emergency pack. There's lists of stuff all over the Internet, so keep safe.
