This quilt has been four years in the making and I still need to trim it and sew the binding on the back. WHEW!! I'm sure at times that my BF thought she'd never get her quilt(she hasn't gotten it yet, lol). We worked together for over 30+ yrs. at the same factory(til the doors closed after only 4 hrs. notice) and have since both moved to different states. I'm in FL. and she's in KY.. We have changed this quilt three times with adding and subtracting fabrics after each quilt top was made. I have finished all but one of the other tops. Each trip to IN. to see my children and grandchildren we stop in KY. and I've taken this quilt with me each time for "approval". Finally two years ago we decided that this top was THE ONE!!! It didn't take me very long to make the top(since I'd done it several times already) and I started hand quilting it two winters ago, but after one and a half rows I had to put it up as a UFO!! I was involved in a bad car wreck over four yrs. ago(in fact it happened two days before we were making a trip to KY. so that my BF could pick out her fabrics for this quilt) and wasn't able to look down for any length of time so that I could continue to hand quilt it. I needed to have surgery done to fuse my neck and just had it done this past May. Then of course I had to have the usual recovery and physical therapy. I was finally able to resume quilting on it in July(of course it was in the high 90's by then) and was it ever HOT!! I finally put the LAST stitch in at 6pm and had to call my BF to let her know that she is going to get a quilt after all, lol!! These are pics of the quilt on my bed, it measures appr. 125" x 140". She wanted it to hang a certain place on each side, bottom and of course the tuck had to be added in too! This quilt has been a true labor of LOVE, I've shed tears, bled all over it and laughed at how creative I had to be to wrestle this while quilting it. Thank you for looking at it and I'll post more pics of it when it's completely finished. I'll be mailing this to her since I've already had pics taken during the fall with both of us by her quilt.
