Sandpat,

I have been told that washing the wool fabric does produce the felted type of wool. The thrift store is an excellant idea. Good luck with your shopping.

Happy Holidays,

I have a friend who does a lot of wool work and she buys most of her wool at the Thrift Store. Just be sure to get good 100% wool. Pieces like skirts have the largest pieces of useable fabric to them. When you bring it home, cut the lining out and wash in HOT water and dry in the dryer. Then you can take the seams apart and have large pieces of wool. It will be felted and yummy for all your stitching projects. She shared a lot of her wool with me---I am a lucky girl. :D
