I can not touch it for months at a time and it sews perfectly when I turn it on. It tolerates any thread and gives me a consistently beautiful stitch. I keep eyeing some of the new machines out there but cannot imagine loving one as much as the one I have.
I have a Bernina 1260 that I bought brand new back in 1991 and simply love the machine. Yes it was a expensive machine. I've used my bernina a lot and now that I don't work outside of the home, it's used on a weekly basis.
Once you try it, you'll love it.
