First, Charismah - it is AMAZING! After seeing it in the photos, I cannot wait to see and touch it in person! You did an incredible job!

For all who wondered how I made this - it is a pattern from McCalls's Quilting mag, August 2007, called Trading Patches.
You need 6" squares and strips of 1 1/2" by 8".
Cut the square on the diagonal to make 2 triangles.
Then sew the strip to the diagonal of each triangle, so that the strip becomes the center part of the square. The strip will hang out of the square.
((Helpful tip: before sewing, fold and finger press first the triangle and then the strip, to find the center of each piece; then you can match the centers before sewing.))
Trim the block to 5". ((I think I had enough to trim mine to 5 1/2".))
When you have enough blocks, sew them in rows!
I tried to use solids for the strips and prints for the squares, but it really doesn't matter.
Also, I bet you can make bigger blocks if you want, by starting with larger squares and longer strips.
I will also say that the quilt looks completely different/even better after the quilting: the lattice work shows up stronger and the squares are minimized, making it look more complex that it seems to be!
Thanks again Charismah!
