Thanks! Must be another model that was suggested & I had a part-time blonde moment. Will stop searching for a 301, look thru my notes & figure out what I should be looking for. :)

And yes - there is a small holed plate - didn't know that the zig zag plate was what was causing the problem those first few stitches. Will have to change that out when I am doing piecing work.
