I'm at my wits end....Trying to quilt a new top I have pieced. Washed the fabric, backing and soaked the batting as per their instructions (Hobbes Heirloom 80/20 cotton batting, black) I'm using Robinson-Anton 50 wt. thread and the top thread breaks continually. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the black batting. Have never used black before but it does feel a bit harsh.

I quilted on a sample using the same materials except for the batting which I didn't have yet. The one I used for sample was a white cotton batting.

Have anyone had this problem? I don't know where to go for answers. I've been reading the Message Board and have gotten a lot of good tips. Would appreciate anybody's input. Thanks so much.
