Anyway it is an Eldridge "B" and the best I can tell it was made in 1885. It can not be any later than 1886 but I have a real good friend Annie looking at a bunch of photos of the machine with the serial to help me out in getting the exact year.

I just saw one like this... cept polished. On craigslist somewhere. I thought it interesting, but passed it by. I remember it because of the reallly small treadle cabinet. I only have room for one treadle, and that's going to be a 201 in a singer cabinet. Anyways, the Eldr. I saw looked fairly well kept. It's one of the Florida craigslists...
