Is the top veneer? See if you can find someone who repairs veneer. They can repair the wood and it will blend in when you re-stain the top.
Good Luck, that's a beautiful machine. I got one last year with the same/similiar drawer fronts but the cabinet and machine are not in as good shape as your's appears to be.
