I bought a lot of fabric from Penneys. I remember when you could go into almost any clothing store (even the higher priced stores) & get fabric. Back then they sold candy, nuts, wrapping paper, cards,etc. I remember being able to buy fabric through the mid-70's but not sure how much later.
