It's done with strip sets. Depending on the size of your strips, you can decide how to make whatever size you want. Strip sets need to be at least 2-1/2 times longer than 1/2 the width of your spinning star. In other words, a 40" strip set that is 8" wide will give you one-fourth of a 30" or so spinning star.
Did you change the width of the strip to 8 inches or stick to the 5 inches in the tutu and the triangles were 8" long at the base?
