You could make pinwheels. Take two squares, place right sides together. Stitch a 1/4 seam on all four sides, cut the square diagonally once for corner to corner. And then again a second time from corner to corner. You now have the makings for pinwheels. Match up a sold with a print square for a more controlled look or just make it really scrappy.
