I just read the 'twister' thread, and read how this would make it easier, so I thought I'd post a pic of the one my DH made:

He made a revolving 'table' for my mat, a little bit bigger than my biggest mat. We bought the 'lazy susan' thing from an online wood worker company (it was $50. They had a cheaper one for $3, and when we got this, I could see why this was more, it's well made!) and the wood was some leftover stuff they call 'counter board' (it's what is used to make kitchen counters)
We attached 2 handles, that's what the yellow straps are, and I store it on the floor. It sort of hides where I store my mat, under a desk height counter. That way, the next peron that lives here, when I'm dead, can use it as a desk. But I never sit there so to me, it's storage

Behind the mat on the table, you can see the metal hook part of the thread holder he made, the base fits down into the sewing machine hole. My sewing machine is at the doctor's right now. But I did find my "She who dies with the most fabric, wins" coffee cup, that I use to hold my cone thread as it goes through the hook, to the machine
