The seam allowance is really irrelevant when using Quiltsmart.

What "points" are you taking about on the AppleCore?
They alternate horizontal and vertical, and the curved sections fit into each other.
Before you turned the pieces, did you make sure you didn't have excess seam allowance? After you turned them, did you smooth out the edges and make sure there are no folds in seam? I use my fingernails, but you could also use a wooden iron.
