I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the walking foot. I use mine all the time. Truth be told, I don't ever take it off except to put the FM foot on. I have a generic and a Janome that is specifically for my maching. Strangely enough, I like the generic one best. The foot is open and I can see what I'm doing. I don't have to change feet to do decorative stitching on the quilt. I wish you could use one.
