i consider myself lucky when i don't feel a need to pin.
not only do i usually wind up pinning at least half the time, i have also been driven to [gasp!!!!] baste ... sometimes using the machine sometimes with needle and thread. i think it must be a "leftover" from sewing clothes with my mom all those years ago.
